Dante U. Varias Jr. is an alumnus of Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines. He graduated with a degree of B.S. in Civil Engineering in November 2004. In June 2005, Dante received his license to practice in the Philippines.

Immediately after acquiring his professional license, Dante worked as a structural engineer with his father’s engineering company, D.L. VARIAS Engineering Consultants.

He also started working as a Structural Engineer in a Japanese-affiliated Manila-based company specializing in civil design of Industrial, Power Generating, and Petrochemical Plants. Dante gradually worked his way up and in 2008, he became one of its Directors.

He also worked as a freelance structural engineer for several local construction company which has exposed him to a variety of commercial/residential projects, government buildings, multi-purpose structures, elevated and on ground storage tanks, industrial warehouse, signage support structure, steel tower, etc. which are all located in the Philippines.

In 2013, Dante accepted a job offer in Yokohama, Japan, where he stayed as a Structural Design Manager of a First-Class Professional Building Engineering Office in Japan up to December 2020. He oversees the design of steel structures, reinforced concrete buildings, storage tanks, heavy machinery foundation, and all other structures in both power plants and petrochemical plants. His extensive knowledge and understanding on Structural Steel Design and Seismic Design provision around the globe combined with his ability to utilize different analysis software has led to his previous company into accepting a multitude of challenging yet well-known projects internationally.

Dante is the Lead Structural Engineer and Project Team Leader of boiler steel structure projects that are handled by MRS Engineering. A recently concluded one is located in Chiba, Japan. This boiler steel structure has a height of 52 meters and is designed for the Level-1 and Level-2 earthquake of the Japanese Building Law. He also acted as the Technical Field Advisor during the first of its “3-part tier” erection.

Other boiler steel structures that he has handled from 2012 is located in Mindanao, Philippines (height: 61m) and in Palembang, Indonesia (height: 45m).
