Aya is an alumnus of Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines. She graduated with a degree of B.S. in Civil Engineering in July 2005 and then received her license to practice in the Philippines in December 2005.
From 2006 to 2010, Aya worked as an Engineer in the Planning and Quality Department of a Korean-owned company in Dubai, United Arab of Emirates. Having an urge to pursue a job in line with structural works, she returned to the Philippines and worked in a construction company in the Philippines from March 2011 to December 2011 before finally landing a job as a Structural Design Engineer in CEC Management and Consultancy Philippines (CMCP) in January 2012.
Familiar with her abilities during college, Dante U. Varias Jr., who is one of CMCP’s Directors, immediately hired Aya and personally trained her for the first three months. From then on, they worked together on all projects and were both sent to Japan in November 2012. They were immediately hired directly by a Japanese company and were assigned as Structural Design Manager and Structural Engineer respectively.
Aya handles the structural design works of equipment foundations, tank support structures, reinforced concrete buildings, structural pipe racks, steel boiler and bunker, and other infrastructures in a petrochemical plant and power plant. She specializes in civil design of heavy machinery foundation, storage tanks, and stack foundation. Having been exposed to a variety of international petrochemical and power plant projects for 9 years, Aya is well-versed in different design codes and unit systems. She is also proficient in different design softwares such as STAAD Pro, Midas Gen, Midas iGen, AutoCAD, and Tekla among others.
